Learning, Changing,

Growing.

Through fitness, pregnancy, motherhood, and everything in between, I’m sharing what I learn as life changes, and I’d love for you to come along.

Come Along With Me

Fitness

Taking care of yourself becomes a lot harder when you’re also responsible for taking care of someone else.

Fitness has been an important part of my life for years. It gives me energy, helps me clear my head, and has taught me self-discipline and so much about what my body is capable of. But pregnancy, and now becoming a mother, has completely changed what fitting exercise into my life actually looks like.

During pregnancy, I found that much of the information available focused on what women shouldn’t do, rather than what we can do. After having a baby, finding the time and opportunity to exercise becomes a challenge of its own.

I don’t believe women should have to fit themselves into one way of training. Our bodies, goals, lifestyles, and circumstances are different, and our training should reflect that. As a personal trainer, I care deeply about good technique, understanding why we’re doing an exercise rather than simply following trends, and adapting training to the individual.

Through this space, I want to share realistic fitness advice and practical ways to keep moving as life changes. And if you need something designed specifically for you, I also offer personalised training programmes built around your goals, experience, lifestyle, and circumstances.

Pregnancy

There was so much I wasn’t prepared for. The physical symptoms were difficult, but so were the changes happening mentally and emotionally. Your body is doing an incredible amount of work that nobody else can see or feel, and there were times when I struggled with feeling like I wasn’t doing enough, even though my body was doing more than ever.

Pregnancy also has a way of reminding you just how much is outside of your control. I went into mine wanting to understand everything, partly because understanding the why behind things has always helped me manage my anxiety. But I quickly learned that there won’t always be an answer, and even when there is, it may not be the same for every woman. I found this especially true when preparing for birth.

I wanted to understand what it might feel like, what my options were, and why certain choices were recommended so I could decide what felt right for me. But the more I searched, the more conflicting advice I found, and at times I was left with more questions than answers. Eventually, I realised that preparing for birth meant trying my best to understand what my options were, but knowing you can't truly plan for it.

My goal for this space is that, by sharing my experiences and what I know now, you feel more confident in your decisions, learn to stand up for what you need, and better understand what feels right for you and why.

Postpartum

I always imagined that once I had given birth, I’d get a break. Instead, I went straight from being a tired pregnant woman into the completely new life of being a mother. Of course, this makes logical sense, yet it doesn’t really cross your mind until you give birth and suddenly everything changes. Once your baby is placed on your chest, you forget how tired you are straight away, and all you feel is so much love, joy, and excitement for what is to come.

During the pregnancy, I felt like I got to know our daughter, only to realise that I had to get to know her all over again, this time outside the womb. I’m learning how to both take care of our baby and my own body that I currently don’t even recognise.

I’ve learned that now that I am a mother, my goal shouldn’t be entirely about getting back to who I was before. Of course there are parts of myself I want back, such as my strength, energy, routines, and active lifestyle. But I’ve also accepted that it’s okay for some parts of me to change. That doesn’t mean I’ve lost who I was before; some of it is simply growth and learning to adapt to the life I have now.

The life I have always wished for.

Through this space, I want to share what I’m learning as I find that balance, from recovery and breastfeeding to fitness, routines, gadgets, and the little things that have made this transition easier.
